BEGINNERS COURSE

If you are looking to take up Archery for the first time, then Oxford Archers offer a series of beginners classes throughout the year. 

Each course consists of four '90 minute' lessons, and they are held in the spring and summer at our outdoor range at Oxford Rugby Club (Botley), and in the autumn and winter at our indoor range at Upper Heyford. 

We provide all the equipment - all you have to do is turn up!

We hope you will enjoy the time you spend with us learning the basics of the sport of archery. During your course you will be provided with all the equipment necessary to shoot with (this is included in the course fee). You will be taught by qualified coaches and experienced archers.

Dates and Costs

After the beginner’s course has finished and you join the club you can hire a club bow for £1 a week, for a maximum of 6 weeks (depending on availability). This period will allow you to decide on the type and weight of the bow & arrows etc to purchase. The purpose of the fee is to cover the cost of maintenance and replacing equipment. Also there is no guarantee there will be enough bows to go round at any one time.

Once you have become reasonably competent it is a good idea to think of purchasing your own equipment, in this way you can use the same bow all the time and as you progress you may wish to add accessories and alter your equipment combination.

Please ask a member of the committee or an experienced archer on advice on purchasing your own equipment, they will only be too pleased to help.

There is also second hand equipment to be considered this can be much cheaper than new.
